Greet Lifestyle With Us Inspirational Creative Office Space written by eatmeetngreet I don’t even know where to begin with this one. So, I’ll go back to almost 2 years ago. Card from Kim, Books that I’m currently reading, Departures Magazines from American Express, Pineapple Vase from Homegoods, DIY Iphone container stand, Coaster with a DIY effect, DIY Perfume Bottle, a pineapple letter opener from Amazon, fake flowers from the Dollar Store, an ornament from my husband, journals upon journals lol and a box from Homegoods with pencils. The gray box is also from Homegoods. I was in an emotional rut over the death of my mother. I couldn’t write, sleep, drive…pretty much just stayed in bed all day. I knew at some point, I was going to have get back to some sort of schedule and start my life without my mother. Being a musician, a writer & co-writer for our two blogs, I was going to have to try & somehow get up. While my husband, daughter & doggie Lucki (she has since passed) kept me ever so present on this end, my sisters Jessica and Kim, helped me change up my space. This time around I wanted a theme: Pineapples. Pineapples mean “welcome.” It’s something that my mother used to reference all the time with people. Pineapples have had significant meaning in my life for the past four years, but will get into that a bit later in the year! A DIY card that I made 2 years ago after my mother died. It reminded of water and to never lose sight of my dreams! The space where you work is everything. And because I have multiple jobs where I work from home which require ideas, creativity & inspiration, changing my space was ultimately what I needed to do. I wanted to incorporate the idea of dimension for my space. I wanted Industrial + Whimsical. I got the textured paper from JoAnn’s, all three mirrors from the 99 cent store (can’t even believe it, they look incredible) and our 2017 Grammy Invitation and Tickets! Fabric is from JoAnn’s above the board. I was going for a NYC loft feel with the whimsical fabric! I’m a minimalist at best and I either do two things; stay minimal or go overboard. And with that extremity, Jessica highly suggested that I go with a white environment; especially the desk, walls, office decor and accessories. She said it would keep in the minimal vibe and keep me creative. I was totally against it. I told her everyone on Youtube, Instagram and Pinterest were doing the uninspired white space. But she said she was thinking of my emotional state and not about any social site. Kim suggested my space just be mine and bring all of my mother’s memory funeral belongings upstairs. This black vinyl canvas was getting used up on the front, so I was figuring out what to do with it and I turned it around and I LOVE IT!!! I love that Industrial feel! Card from Jess, Handmade Card from Rant Cathy, My Phoenix necklace, a feather from JoAnn’s, a gold foil book print from Amazon & a DIY Matte Frame of love with a picture of our Wedding Day. Also, the rollerball scent that I wore on our Wedding Day; Tocca Florence. So having taken their advice, it took me 5 months to find a white desk that I liked and that was affordable. I decided on the See Jane Work Kate Writing Desk from Office Depot. (They sell it on Amazon too!) It’s basic white and I got it on sale! Got this board for 1.99 and printed some quotes out and taped them on. Another DIY! Found this at Ross for $9.99 My Humanitarian Award, My Pineapple Night Light and our Honeymoon Fund Jar all sit a top my white corner shelf! My mother’s section with the Medal & Key to The City of Taunton, MA, where I was born & raised. The L is for my father, Leo. Its one of his pendants that I have! Bracelet custom made for my mother, ornaments from Kim & Rant Cathy, a matte framed letter from my mother & her funeral program. (Can’t believe I even wrote that!) Gold Vase: Rachel George So after almost 2 years, I got my space to a place that works for me and I also just got a new white chair two months ago. It’s been slowly coming along and instead of my desk being a “catch all” for mail & junk, I’m working from my desk, inspired, finished pre-production on my new album and have a ton of blog posts to share with all of you. Mug from my PR Guru, Beth, Pens-Cynthia Rowley, Pencils: Kate Spade, Target, Jessica! Pineapple Journal from Homegoods, DIY bottle & mirrors, African Bookend from my mother. Our dog Lucki’s paw print on top of Have Courage and Be Kind Block from JoAnn’s. Pineapple from Homegoods, Paris decor from my sisters BFF and mine, my engagement box from my husband and a DIY Matte frame of ocean waves that I made two years ago. Couldn’t have done this without my girls, Jess & Kim and my husband & especially my daughter who is now with me on the Pineapple Train:) My Office! With my mother’s Vera Wang throw on my chair! If you want me to film this space, then please leave a comment below. I hope this helps anyone with grief, loss, being in a rut, or just wanting something new. My office head to toe. I wanted to capture a photo of it being worked in! Happy Office Planning! Reply Karly Mason 07/31/2017 at 5:23 pm Confessions of a Vegan here, found your picture from a hashtag on Instagram. I have been living with a loss of self, so I might take you up on doing my room over. Just in a blah space. Question which I’m nervous to ask, but with your Mom’s things, how did you decide what you stay in your office and what would go upstairs? Please don’t be offended. Reply eatmeetngreet 08/09/2017 at 11:42 pm Hi Karly, we’re so sorry that you have had loss. It’s very difficult. I’m not offended at all. Well my sister thought that we could have a dedication other than what was in our room, which is where our downstairs offices are. So we decided that way. Hope this helps! Reply Calys Guiteriez 08/01/2017 at 11:31 pm Your office is really different than others on Pinterest. Like the vibe of it all with the natural light. Did you get the Pineapple light from Amazon? Reply eatmeetngreet 08/09/2017 at 11:43 pm Hi Carly, thank you. I was going for a light, airy space. No, I got it from Homegoods. It’s the nightlight Pineapple & battery operated too!
