Greet Lifestyle With Us Plant Health-Toxins No More written by eatmeetngreet Growing up, I never knew that plants could be such a source of health. I often wondered why my mother had so many lively plants in the house. She would put this on my chore list, to water the plants once a week and I just thought that it was a “chore.” But once I grew out of my formative years and the rolling of the eyes for this chore, my mother told me that they “feel nice” in the house and that they are welcoming, living creatures. She loved being surrounded by them because they felt peaceful. It wasn’t until my mother had to move from her home, when I realized, wow what are we going to do with all of the plants. We had Aluminum Plants, Philodendrons, Cast Iron Plants, Snake Plants, Arrowhead, Spider and Boston Fern Plants. Those are what I can remember. Fast forward up until a year ago. I always wanted plants, but they would often die in our house. I would always forget to water them, primarily because they were on the balcony. So, I decided to educate myself and research everything about “how to care for house plants.” I went to our local nursery and I met with plant experts who increased my knowledge, help me feel not guilty about my neglect and help me with what I could manage with, since I really love plants. I decided on a few succulents, and two Snake Plants; reasons being, managibility and toxins. I became really ill in April, where I could barely breath and talk. There was a toxic mold allergin that was circulating in the air and it ended up in my bloodstream. I was on bedrest for two weeks and it was miserable. On top of this, I had Strep Throat and Bronchitis. So once I got better, we did some Spring Cleaning and got a snake plant for our bedroom. It has helped tremendously as this powerhouse can remove: formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide from the air. I’m feeling so much better since. So if you’re not great with plants and you want to be a plant mom that requires very little attention, try a snake plant; water once a week and water the plant on the side, as you don’t want to water the actual bud. Another great option is a hanging spider plant or an aloe vera plant (great for skin too!) Here’s to great plant care!
